Food Guide

An easy way to find good food.

My family landed in Costa Rica, drove out to the coast, and got settled in our home. The first thing we did was head out to find food.

I love milk, so the first thing I did when we walked into the market was grab a quart. And while my wife and kids were walking around the store gathering what they wanted, it hit me over the head — our milk doesn't taste like this. It tastes wrong.

By the time we got home and I started to eat the food we had purchased, I realized: I can't do it anymore. I can't keep going to the store and ending up with cold, lifeless food. I need to find the real stuff and bring it home. It's a challenge, but I have to do it as much as possible.

I built a database. Once it was built, I decided to share it with my friends — and that's how this website happened.

In Costa Rica, you go to the market. In California, you have to search.

This guide is about the people in California still doing it the old way — and the experiences that come with it. Pick the . Get the . Catch the . Drive out for the . Visit the . Eat the . Drink the . Taste the . Eat the .
